Feeling spring fever with Sharee and some ranunculus in Griffith Park at sunset. Experimenting with a film effect, I put a piece of pink mesh fabric over my lens for the first few images in this set and loved the softness and glow it created.
A few of my favorite shots from my Spring 2021 fashion shoot for Muse Collective.
Apalmanac, Architectural Photography Almanac, interviewed me about what it’s like being a photo assistant and working with Mike Kelley. Give it a read to hear about our world travels, funny anecdotes, and how fashion photography relates to my work in the architectural world.
I did a portrait session with Hunter Kerhart this week. He’s an amazing architectural photographer and needed new portraits for his business. He brought his Leica M9 as a prop and let me play around with it, and insists I need to add one of those to my collection. It would be a perfect travel companion for my trip to Iceland!
Chromacabana shot for Latiste Summer 2019 Lookbook with model Christen Harper in Silverlake, LA.
Spring Summer 2019 Lookbook I shot for L’atiste in Silverlake, LA, California.
I shot this editorial titled Secret Garden for La Plus Belle Magazine, an Italian fashion print magazine. I’m so lucky to have such an amazing and talented team to help see my vision through! The shoot’s success completely relied on all of our talents coming together. I was also so fortunate to be able to shoot at the historic Owlwood Estate in Beverly Hills. This estate has lots of history with it being home to Cher as well as Marilyn Monroe. There are so many magnificent magnolia trees on the property that really inspired me, especially when the golden afternoon sun lit them up. See the full editorial on my site at Fashion Editorial - Secret Garden and in the mag Issue 11 Vol 2. https://issuu.com/laplusbellemagazine/docs/issue_eleven_2/61
I met Sharee on a job and she quickly became my muse! She had a concept for an androgynous styled shoot she wanted to do, and I got on board and we made it happen (see: Stillness editorial.) It was literally like food for my soul to get out and do a creative shoot. It was simple and quick and we got amazing shots. The BEST kind of shoot. At the end, we changed up the look and made a little filmstrip. so cute.
Playing with a prism in front of my lens with Sharee in Gucci sunglasses, vintage Bill Blass corduroy jacket, and scarf from Zara.
I assisted Shaun Vadella shooting Sarah in his neighborhood of West Hollywood. We were creating a “color story” of sorts and walked around to find buildings that matched the styling! It was a lot of fun and such a successful shoot. I snapped some iphone pics of this gorgeous girl.
My friend, Amanda Riley, being cute after our happy hour at Sawyer in Silverlake!
Just a few of my fave images from shooting Lani for JLUXLABEL winter 2018 at the studio in DTLA.
Mike Kelley hired me to assist him on a job shooting a million $ home giveaway for HGTV in beautiful Montana! We were lucky enough to have an extra day to explore Glacier National Park in all its fall color glory. It was so grounding being out in nature and crisp mountain air. We had a great time hiking around a bit, laying in the sun by the lake, and making him take my picture.
My friend, Lark, came to visit me and it was so fun showing her around the hood and taking her to my fave places. We went to Honey Hi in Echo Park. I mean, how cute is the name?? And then it was her idea to go to the museum of death, which I found pretty interesting because I’m a scorpio moon, naturally. But she hated it and looked down the entire time. Then we went hiking in Griffith Park with my little Penny baby girl. Then to a jazz bar in Hollywood. Such a great time!!
I’ve been lucky enough to assist Mike Kelley, an architectural photographer, for about a year now. He is super successful and a pro at what he does, and it’s interesting to see him at work. We have photographed houses anywhere between $ 10-100M and have travelled around the US. Bonus he’s super fun to be around. Here are some behind the scenes of a house in the hills of West Hollywood. The infinity pool may have given it away.
My friend, Sara, and I’s favorite thing to do is spend all day at the beach, just the two of us. We don’t get to see each other all that often because we’re both so busy working and adulting. So it’s amazing to take a whole day to catch up and enjoy nature at its finest. We bring all the vegan snacks and just lay and talk and take a ton of fun pictures.
My best friend, Lindsay, lives in Brooklyn so I only get to see her like once a year! I was flying to the east coast to visit family in Charlotte, so I took a few days to spend in NY with Lindsay. We didn’t plan too much and actually didn’t even leave Brooklyn. I just wanted her to show me all her favorite spots to get coffee, and walk around and explore and take pictures. It’s what we do best. We went to BAM and saw Hereditary. fucking terrifying just letting you know but we both love scary movies. We were on the hunt for some amazing vegan food and our days turned into food tours with stops at bookstores, coffee shops, and little boutiques in between. It was the best.
On my last evening, I got to take portraits of my beautiful friend. Black and white just seemed so appropriate. I love these.
Dana is signed with NXT Modeling agency in Denver and the super friendly agent there, Natalie, referred Dana to me for a test shoot during her visit out to LA. Dana owns a small clothing company with her husband and two other friends, called Rebel Disciple. She was staying out in Malibu, so it was the perfect opportunity to shoot at the beach. My fave spot is El Matador with the giant rocks, caves, and glowy light. The light had already gone down behind the cliff, so we ended up with really soft blue hazy light, which turned out so pretty. You really never know what to expect with beach shoots with weather and light. It was so fun photographing Dana, and such a gorgeous evening!
New JLUXLABEL summer 2018 campaign! This shoot was at Santa Monica Beach with babes Constance Nunes and Phoenix Skye. We had fun running around spending the day in sunshine and sand and taking stellar photos! The shoot was inspired by a book of poems, Dirty Pretty Things by Michael Faudet, that my friend, Sara, lent me. I brought the book as a prop to use and it ended up inspiring us to use its title for our editorial.
“I am hopelessly in love with a memory. An echo from another time, another place.”
I was so lucky to see Kelsey Lu play a garden show at the JACCC in DTLA. It was so magical I was tearing up when she walked out and picked up her cello. Her voice is so incredible and she’s a truly inspiring artist and musician. You must watch this beautiful video for Shades of Blue!
The nice event photographer snapped a pic of me doing my thing.
New JLUXLABEL SS2018 campaign! This editorial is my favorite I’ve done with the brand since working with them starting in Oct 2017. The styling is so on point with the mixing of textures and belts that tie everything together. Loving the color palette the most. I shot this alongside Shaun Vadella and we actually spackled the wall background ourselves!! So resourceful here at JLUX HQ. The perfect angel model is Rachel Mortenson of LA Models, hair and make up by the super talented Jen Tioseco.
